This is a topic I’m pretty passionate about and wanted to share my insights about the benefits of spending time in nature. You’re probably wondering why I wanted to write about this topic and that’s because my perspective has greatly changed as a result of being alone in the wilderness. The Earth holds a great deal of power and when you have intimate time with her, you open yourself up to all that’s out there. I for one realized there’s a lot of love in this world, even after all the hate. I found an immense amount of healing when I’m in the depths of nature.
When you’re a child you have a precious innocence that you start your life off with, but throughout time and experience, that innocence seems to trickle as life moves on. Many of us have experienced trauma or hurt that greatly shapes who we are. We carry this pain with us through life until we learn to let go of it and decide to heal. No one can decide for us when that time is, only we know when we are ready. No medication or surgery could ever heal one, as personal insight can. We must acknowledge our story and turn it into something that allows us to serve others. Horrible things happen in this world, but we can turn them into strength and resiliency. But first, we need to dedicate time to finding out who we are and understanding our story.
I would recommend starting with time in nature, whether that be a long hike or a simple walk by the river. Leave technology at home and be with yourself. Check in and see how you are really feeling. We do not allow ourselves to have enough of this intimate time with ourselves in this society. Only when we understand ourselves, can we begin the healing process.
